Scott Tedmon-Jones, a native of Laramie, Wyoming, recently relocated to New York City after completing his MFA in Scene Design at Carnegie Mellon University.  Earlier this year he made his opera debut with Pittsburgh Opera’s The Rape of Lucretia, directed by Dan Rigazzi.  Additionally, he designed Carnegie Mellon’s 2008 production of Into the Woods, directed by Kent Gash, and assisted on The Piano Lesson, directed by Elizabeth Van Dyke

Scott lived in a small town in Vermont and worked at a community bank in New Hampshire while his partner completed his master’s program.  In 2004, not to stay away from theatre all together, Scott used all his vacation plus some to return to UW Summer Theatre where he designed and oversaw the construction and load-in for Deathtrap and Mr. A’s Amazing Maze Plays.  In 2002, he designed the season’s productions of Later Life and The Wind in the Willows

Scott completed his BFA at the University of Wyoming in 2001 during which time he was fortunate to see first-hand the creation of one of the most widely produced plays today, Tectonic Theater Project’s The Laramie Project.  In 2000, Scott helped lead the fundraising effort to bring the off-Broadway production to Laramie for its local premiere.

For Scott, theatre is an outlet for exploring and furthering our understanding of the human experience.  In addition to theatre as entertainment, Scott is interested in designing and participating in performance and storytelling projects that promote an awareness of and a dialogue on current socio-political issues.

Additional design credits include the production design for a new television pilot, Munhall, written by Jason Coll and directed by Daniel T. Green.
